Villa Description

This is a love at first sight Bequia villa and has attracted many of repeat bookings. The house has astounding views over the ocean and Grenadine Islands and is only very short drive from the west and south coast beaches and restaurants including Jacks Bar on Princess Margaret Beach.

Designed by British-based architect Jake Edgley, who trained with Sir Norman Foster, the house offers her guests a unique holiday of barefoot sophistication. Mangwana villa is a dramatic example of a new generation of contemporary  Caribbean architecture, set in a truly spectacular location. The brief to the architect was to produce something with a high ‘wow’ factor that is very comfortable to live in with lots of natural ventilation.
The design is inspired by traditional Moroccan courtyard houses, where a series of intimate spaces surround water, providing shelter from the sun throughout the day and with cooling breezes from the pool.

Each bedroom tower has a living space below and a private access stair. To the north of the courtyard a large hall provides eating and dining areas, and creates a sequence of spaces from the spectacular mezzanine entrance , through the public hall to the private towers beyond and then finally a huge balcony suspended high over the treetops.

Looking south from a height of 600 ft down over the jewel-like southern Grenadines, the infinity pool has jaw-dropping views.

INSIDE/LAYOUT

You enter Mangwana at mezzanine level directly into a vast living area with vaulted ceiling, open- plan kitchen and magnificent 16 ft high Brazilian hardwood doors which in turn open onto the pool and frame one of the villa’s many stunning views. There is a peaceful walled garden on the shaded south-west side with a large terrace to the east for outside eating, BBQ’s and dancing. Mangwana is a family house with endless opportunities for fun and relaxation. It has its own games room and TV room. Amenities include table tennis, table football, a rowing machine and massage table, plus an area for petanque (boules) in the grounds below.

BEDROOMS

Mangwana's six cool and breezy bedrooms are large and versatile. Two have king-sized beds whilst the remaining four have twin beds which can be put together to make king sized doubles. Five of the six bathrooms are en suite; two of them open to the night skies. All bedrooms have their own private balconys, over looking the pool on one side and the second looking outwards over the ever-changing seascape.

BATHROOMS

Mangwana's six exquisite en-suite bathrooms have been expertly styled. The chic design is sure to impress and matches the rest of the Villa's outstanding appearance.

ENTERTAINMENT

"Dear Lucille,
Happy New Year!
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for all your help and great advice before and during our stay on Bequia. Your input really made such a big difference to us and our overall experience. The only bad news is, we are no longer there, and are at home missing our Bequia home, Mangwana.
I wish you the best for 2013, and sincerely hope that we will be able to return for another visit SOON.

“We are loving it here and feeling very much like we have come to the right place. your home and location is superb, and the island's style and culture is really special as you know.”
M K & Family - August 2010

“Just wanted to drop you a line and say how much we enjoyed our stay at 'Wana'. The house is easily the most stunning building we have ever stayed in - the main room is like a cathedral! The views from each of the balconies must be some of the best and most relaxing in the world; it feels as thought you're looking across an entire ocean. Also, the breeze is divine, keeping you cool even on the hottest afternoon - along with the perfect infinity pool. We can't wait to visit again; our kids are still pining for the beaches and papayas.”
C. Wigley

“The whole house is a dream with views 'sans pareil' from every window and door. Great atmosphere of space and calmness, peace and light. Absolutely beautiful, breathtaking and cool.”
Z. & S. Roggendorff, UK

“Nothing could prepare us for quite what a spectacular house this is. The house has a real sense of calm and being part of the landscape. We absolutely loved it. Wonderful.”
