Set in 60 acres of a former coconut plantation and resembling a colonial fortress this colonial villa is tucked into a luscious forested valley and has commanding views over the palm studded Atlantic coast of Bequia. A private drive way leads from the Port Elizabeth road up between verdant canopies to an estate house with massive stone walls and majestic views over the Grenadines. Swim at the pool then wander down to the Beach Club for a dip or dinner. You can hear the sound of the surfs surge here. Net-draped mahogany beds with cool cotton sheets, and Bequia's cool breezes blow over your bare skin. This house is a barefoot, unusual, exotic escape.

Five bedrooms. Master Suite's spacious bedroom with king-size canopy bed offers views of the sea on one side and virgin tropical forest on the other. The suite also has a small second room with a single bed for lounging or an additional guest. Second bedroom is large and private with two queen-size antique mahogany beds facing the sea. Third bedroom - tan, chiseled rocks frame the lush greenery and gorgeous sea views that burst through the three enormous French windows. The Baliceaux room has a king-size, antique mahogany canopy bed and a stunning view over the estate, reef, ocean and the Grenadines. Fourth bedroom - A private spiral stair leads to this hidden room with a view of virgin tropical forest and a peek at the sea from its Juliet balcony. The Secret Guests' room has a queen-size, antique mahogany canopy bed. This is Sugar Reef Bequia's most private room. Fifth bedroom called the Mistresses cottage is secluded in the back courtyard near the pool, this stand-alone Caribbean cottage glows with the luster of polished mahogany. The Mistress's Cottage has a queen-size, antique mahogany canopy bed and a view of virgin tropical forest, with a peek of the sea.

Sugar Reef Hotel on the estate property, serves breakfast and lunch daily and dinner upon request. The beach offers good swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing, and kite-surfing. To the east are hundreds of undeveloped acres where you can walk, run and hike. There is also a turtle sanctuary around the first point, in Park, about half a mile from French House.



The housekeeper can prepare breakfast but guests usually provide their own meals. A trained chef can be provided for lunch and dinner at an additional cost.
Restaurants on the island are good and varied (Italian, Swedish, French, Caribbean, American)Within a short distance the Beach Club at Crescent Beach serves delicious food with many home grown ingredients in a chic beachfront setting.


Map: Bequia is the second largest island in the Grenadines, 10 km South of St Vincent and 8 km north of Mustique. Drive from Bequia airport takes 15 minutes up through Port Elizabeth to Hope Estate.
Air: Private Jet to Canouan island just 5 minutes flight from Bequia’s airport. Fly to Barbados and Bequia airport has daily flights from here. Alternative with chartered plane would be Martinique, St Lucia, or Grenada. It is also possible to fly Barbados - St Vincent and then take the ferry.
